Hello guys!
I recently got an ADSL internet connection so now I'm always connected to internet.
I have an old PC with Windows 2003 installed, i have no firewall yet and I would like to ask you a question.
I run from CMD the command "netstat -a" when no program is connected with the internet and I get always a different IP address establishing with http of my server....

It is needed to connect to the internet. To close a port, it's usually only necessary to shut down the program holding the port open. On some ports it's enough to tell the program or service that the port should not be opened. A good example is the Microsoft Internet Information Services in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. If installed, they open three ports automatically: 21, 25 and 80. Port 21 is the FTP server, port 25 the SMTP server (email server) and port 80 the webserver for http. HTH

thanks capt!
And how I'm gonna close port80 for Webserver ? I dont want to be contacted from others at all... Is it necessary for the system to have port80 open? How can I close it if not ? I see only other IP's establishing connection with my port 80 only for http, no FTP, no SMTP but http only...
Thanks again for your reply!

You do not want to close it. It is needed by your webserver for internet access.

You probably have a program that requires it to be open. Did you run the Symantec Security Ckeck scan and it showed port 80 open? Have you ran the Shields up scan at the Gibson Research site, or the vulnerabilty scans at PC Flank? Try running those csans and see how the system does.
