If you go to the Main message page, and scroll down to the message "Cant remove aol.exe" you will see how I stopped Purity Scan from running on my PC. Because it becomes attached to windows, and can not be removed; but it can be stopped. That's a great advantage.

Ok, here is what worked; and I got rid of the annoying P purity scan along with it.
Close all programs
Click Start / RUN ,and type 'msconfig' and click OK.
The SystemConfiguration Utility comes up, click on the 'Advanced' button.
In the Advanced Troubleshooting Setting dialogue box that comes up, click the little square box at 'Enable Start Up Menu'
click OK. and OK again in 'System Configuration Utility as it reappears.
And click YES to restart your computer.Your computer will restart differently than normal.
Push your arrow down button to the 'Safe Mode' and Enter. Now in safe mode, I went to start then run, then re-entered the msconfig, which is there automaticly now, because you typed it last.
Went back into system configuration utility, chose the 'Startup Tab', and unchecked
WINSERVS WINSERVS.exe which stops Purity Scan from running,
and unchecked run= C:\AMERIC~1.0\AOL.exeand hit 'APPLY'
Then click 'Advanced' and uncheck 'EnableStartup Menu, and OK and OK again and 'YES' to restart your computer.
Now your computer will restart in normal mode without an Aol.exe error poping up
and without purity scan jumping in .OH !If you havn't been to message 33 in the subject about Global finder.com Hijack; That message 33 has the link that does remove that global finder madness.
I love this place !

to remove purity scan & other addware type programs download "spybot" copy & paste url
into your browser its free & it works!http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download

I got rid of Purity Scan like this; (I'm running Windows Me)
>START>SEARCH and enter 'purity scan'; search local drives (C & D in my case). This produced the result 'C:\Program Files\PuritySCAN.exe'. Right clicking on the file/folder icon brought up the dialogue and I highlighted the 'Delete@ option and exited SEARCH. A check in SETTINGS ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS revealed no trace of the Programme and it has ceased to run.
If you have any of the British Ministry of Defence-type 'scrub' programmes - Sure Delete is good - then just folloe the first steps and drag 'n drop the icon into the dump box and kill it!
