Well, i'd say get some Anti-virus, Anti-sywear, and some worms removers and detectors. I wouldn't open that softwear that you have there on our harddrive, but delete it and do a full clensing treatment of your PC by scanning it multiple times with many different Removing tools. Myself I reccomend AVG Free Edition, but thats because i've worked with Norton (piece of crap) Anti-Vir ( Bigger Piece) and Some others during the years. If your Intrested in AVG the link is : http://www.sofotex.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition-download_L21.html . Thats the main Download page for the free edition I'd reccomend though to hurry and find some worm removers and Spywear. You can never have to many. About the password protectors; You can password only certain files. Just right click on the folders, click properties, Sharing, and then there should be a message that makes you want to have the folder private. Click yes. Then a message should appear asking you if you want to make a password for yourself. Then Click yes, and only that password can acess the files unless you take it off password protect. Good Luck, and I wish I had more advice to give you. (Oh and by the way I'm a lady :P)

Yeah, sorry click the check box. Though only folders can be password protected, not any zipped files or random pictures/music and the such. I'm not real sure why its greyed out it could be that maybe your not the main user on the computer so its not abling you to password protect the files. If thats the case try changing your options on the control panel that can be found under start.Or maybe you'd like to copy all the files in that folder and put them in another folder that can lock? Sorry if I can't be of more help.
