Okay, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm getting too paranoid.
I currently have been using AVG for my anti-virus protection. Thus far, I've been pretty happy with it. I was recently turned onto Housecall (the online scan), and it found a few things that AVG didn't find. I took care of those things and that was that.
Then I started reading about NOD32 and how good it was. So I downloaded that. Sure enough, it found a few more things that AVG and Housecall didn't find.
Keep in mind, I am now using all three Anti-virus programs, and at the same time, I am also using Spybot S & D, Ad-Aware, CWShredder, Spyware Blaster, 3 different registry cleaners and Pop-up Stopper Professional.
Are any of these programs working against each other?? Am I being too paranoid? Is it okay to use all 3 virus scanning programs (obviously not simultaniously, but seperately)?? How much is too much??

Three antivirus programs at the same time? It's remarkable that you haven't experienced any conflicts among the three utilities.Out of those you listed, Nod32 is by far the best antivirus program.

PS With the other utilities (anti-spyware, etc.), you shouldn't have any compatibility problems. I use most of them myself and haven't experienced any difficulty.

Well obviously I am not running them at the same time, but yes...all 3 are currently on my hard drive. Excuse me, 2 are my my HD....Housecall is an online scan.
I have been running one at a time. I'm just wondering if I should be experiencing any conflicts or if they work against each other. If I had to pick one, I'd pick NOD32 to stick with, except that the license fee is ridiculous.

Unless you've adjusted either AVG or Nod32 so they don't enable themselves at start-up, they might eventually interfere with each other. Most antivirus software (free and payware) is set by default to start when you boot the computer.

Well I have already taken care of that. I setup NOD32 to startup at boot, but AVG to remain dormant until I require its use. When I do use AVG, I close NOD32. The same process goes for when I use Housecall.
But my question still remains. How much is too much?

With only one antivirus utility running at any given time, plus the rest of the anti-spyware utilities, I'd say you're probably just right. Regular maintenance (different for everyone, but a good average is once a week) should keep your PC malware-free.
Always be on the lookout, though, for new programs and utilities to keep your computer in shape. For example, the Security-Privacy section at SnapFiles.
Too answer your question directly: As long as the software doesn't conflict, you can never have too much protection.

I think you're paranoid :) Have you had a bad experience with a virus or spy program?
I run AVG free version, Zone Alarm free version and scan my machine now and then with Adaware and have never had a moment's bother despite being on line all day with a broadband connection. I keep regualar backups of important document and have a ghost image of my C: drive in case disaster strikes and I need to reinstall (it hasn't so far). I think if you do something similar then you can relax and start using your computer for something productive like playing games :)

I would say you are wasting too much time on all this stuff . Get a AV that you are confident in . Get Adaware and spybot and use these together . Also i notice you said nothing about a firewall , this is a necessity .Get one of the free one like Sygate or Zonalarm these both work fine . If you are getting a lot of viruses then I would say you need to look at an alternate ISP . Any good ISP that worth anything should be picking off 99% of the viruses out at the mail server . I know my AV (AVG) hasn't quarantined anything in probably more than a year . I have checked with a couple of online scans and they see nothing either . Use a good AV, firewall, adaware, and spybot and this will keep your machine clean .
