I keep getting a pop up:

... going back far enough using System Restore should remove the bad image pop-ups! ... tap <F8> <key> @ bootup select repair, once its scanned another menu should appear with "system restore" as an option.

sounds more like google related. Try uninstalling google toolbar, desktop, google updates etc in add/remove. See if that clears up the problem. System restore will most likely be redundant. Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
