How do you disable McAfee firewall?

McAfee virus and firewall--came on new Dell computer and interferes with home network. I have tried to disable McAfee firewall, it says it's disabled on system tray. Whenever I start the computer the message "do you want to verify firewall" comes up. If you click verify, it takes you to the web site to sign in. If you click cancel, message goes away until you reboot again. I have gone to MSCONIG startup tab--there are about 5 different McAfee items in there. Which one do I uncheck? HOw do I get rid of this annoying message?

Hello marz, I don't know what version you have installed, but on my Dell, if you right click on the icon in the system tray, it will bring up a box. In that box will be a "disable" click.
Like I said, maybe we are using different versions, I don't know. Hope this helps you out a little. Tommyo

Thank you tommyo--I did right click on the system tray and pick disable, but message still comes up every time they turn on the computer. It's not my computer, so I'm not sure what version it is. They bought the Dell in Aug 03, so it's probably a very new version.

I'm using McA FW myself. This FW came with McAfee VirusScan V7, and the FW version is 4.02. The only option you have is to uninstall the program

If it is not your computer, you should leave it alone. The owner probably wants firewall protection.

Summary: Maybe I should clarify my question... it's really sort of a meta-question. I was thinking mostly about free/shareware software tools, from small or little-known suppliers, including individuals. I gav...
