How do I remove Win 7 virus when I can't even see my screen?

Specs: Windows 7
I picked up the Win 7 virus from what I thought was an innocuous site. Second time under McAfee Antivirus, in fact.

I could see my desktop when infection occurred, but I shut off my computer, which was a mistake. Now, when I restart, everything looks normal until the logon/new user point. When I sign in, everything is black, except for the dumb Win 7 virus messages that pop up out of the emptiness.

I can access task manager via ctrl-alt-del, but that's not useful. I tried safe mode, but I still can't see anything but black (and the words "Safe Mode" in each corner.)

I can access the safe mode command screen option when booting, but I'm not clever enough to use it.

Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks

I could be wrong but , it sounds as tho u might need to re-install windows again. Files may have been deleted if there was a virus. U dont mention this , are you the only user for this computer?

I solved the problem earlier today. I was able to call up task manager and terminate winlogin.exe, which restored my desktop. From that point, I just followed the directions provided at to stop virus processes and remove the virus. Also, I am definitely going to find a better antivirus than McAfee.
