How do I remove google redirector virus?

February 10, 2011 at 09:22:27
Specs: Windows XP

I have a variant of the google redirector virus. I cannot remove it. I tried Norton 360 antivirus and AV antivirus with no luck.
I've also ran malwarebytes anti-malware. All these programs have found some threats and problems but none have been able to remove the google redirector. What do I need to do?

Hello Schne056

I really dont know what a googe redirector virus is (maybe it redirects you to random sites when you search on google?)well i had a "virus" once and nothing could take it away so what i did was i found out where the "virus" were and i changed the "virus" to a text (.txt) file and removed all the text in it, saved it then renamed it to something random and it worked so i think you should try that.

Hi,
1) You will have disable javascript from your browser.
2)Download TDSSkiller from the following link and run:
http://support.kaspersky.com/viruse...
3) Now update and run a full scan of MalWareBytes in safe mode.
4) Download HitManPro3.5 30 day free trial from this link and run a full scan:
http://download.cnet.com/Hitman-Pro...
You should be virus free now.
Enable javascript now and check your browser for redirecting?
Lastly you should disable System Restore to clean out any problems in there, then enable it and create a new restore point.

Got rid of the virus using the product mentioned at http://www.redirectvirusremoval.com
That is fine when you are in a hurry and want an easy fix, but I do realise if you are tech savvy you may be able to do it yourself free using the right instructions.

I agree with MrGoodguy. You can firstly try TDSS killer since it is a good tool to cure Google redirection problem. If TDSS killer won't help, you can try to the threats.
