how do I get rid of searchqu

July 25, 2011 at 11:04:56
Specs: Windows 7
I have no trouble accessing my homepage. However, when I try to open a new tab, I am always taken to "www.searchqu.com/406" Efforts to reset my homepage have been unsuccessful. Also, I've noticed my pc running a bit slower. I am a novice when it comes to resolving technical problems. Any "fix" available to remove "www.searchqu.com/406" from my pc? Many thanks.

Use Malwarebytes with a full scan fixing all it finds....if that doesn't rectify the problem, please let us know as there are other good cleaners available that will do the trick for you without you having to manually mess with your registry.

Thanks for your quick response to my inquiry. Please note that before this "searchqu.com/406" problem surfaced, I had installed Norton 360. In addition, I paid to install Uniblue Power Suite. In response to your suggestion, I looked into downloading Malwarebytes. They also want to get paid. I am not necessarily opposed to ponying up some additional cash if it will resolve my problem, but I'm concerned that this would just duplicate a service that I already have. Any opinion on this?

get malwarebytes here:

I NEVER suggest software that isn't free or doesn't have a 30 day FREE WORKING trial. I have no idea where you tried downloading from.

As far as Norton goes...I have uninstalled MANY norton AV's for my clients.
You may be better off using Avast Free....much better real-time protection, auto updates and NO scheduled scans needed.

I have never used that uniblue prog, and if it is some kind of registry repair prog, you may be getting ripped off.
Ccleaner slim is FREE and about the best registry cleaner on the net.
