hello everyone. i live in the australia, and i have a broadband connection. i want to know, is it possible to change my IP address to reflect that i am in another country? like canada, for example. i'm under attack from a vicious software program, and i'm trying to deflect it. i think i must have give away too much personal information in an internet chat room.

Your IP address is likely not the problem. Besides, most people do not have a dedicated one.
More likely you have security issues.
Uninstall Spyware Programs.
Update Windows if you haven't already.
Antivirus-Run a full Scan.
Antispyware-Run a full scan.
Adjust IE security.
Firewall?Really need a whole lot more info.
What IM?
What attack?
What security do you have?Would really like to help but need more info.

Thor Byrgesen: The one,
oh the one computers and all electronics just hate.

I could be wrong but what first popped into my mind was someone having been banned from a chat room - is trying to get back in.
Before you go to bed release your IP, turn off & unplug your modem & the computer. When you get up in the morning turn everything back on & renew your IP, you should get a new one assigned - provided you do not have a static IP.
Good luck!

Somebody banned my IP to a certain program so there for i cant get on in any other computer in my house. I have a Linksys Router, and using XP. Is there any way i can change my IP so i can get back in the room?? i would appreciate any help! thank you
