I have a virus on my dell desktop and do not know how to get it off. I stupidly did not update my virus software so obviously can not run the scans, etc. I can't even get online to download anything. I backed up all of my files just in case i have to completely get rid of everything. How do I go about getting it off my computer??

Try a portable anti virus program

UK MP's are thieving scumbags.
EU members are worse.

As a last resort (and maybe a FIRST resort if you want to save time and the uncertainty of not cleaning every last vestige of the virus), you could format your hard drive and reload Windows. Then reload your apps and the files you have backed up.

You can try downloading AVAST home free edition after instalation it will ask you if you want to preform a scan at start up YES to the question. You will get a blue screen after the computer boots ups. If it finds a virus it will give you several selections, at this point you are on your own with the decision that you make. If it does not find anything, then download malware bits. save it to your desktop do not install yet. restart your computer in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING, now install the malware bits. and perform a full scan. Follow the instruction once again on your own here. then restart the computer. you can find these downloads at CNET Download. This has worked for in the past. I hope these helps. Sorry for the misspelling kinda tried this evening. Cheers
