My hotmail keeps sending links to Viagra and similar my contacts. I tried all of the tips, changing my password, deleting old possibly infected emails, cleaning out my contacts list, running virus and malware programs while my laptop is on safe mode. I also got a new hard drive in my laptop and had the laptop completely reformatted and it's still sending these emails out so obviously the problem is in my hotmail account itself and not my computer. Does anyone know how to get rid of it without having to get a new email?

Have you checked your Sent Folder in Hotmail? If they're not in there, then your hotmail account has probably been spoofed, and the emails just appear to be coming from your account, but they really aren't. There's nothing you can do to prevent this, unfortunately.
They ARE in my sent folder, does that mean I can still stop this from happening?
Are you accessing your Hotmail from the webpage? If so, you should probably contact Hotmail Help. Your account shouldn't be spamming. Or, you could disable the account and create a new one.
same thing happening to me for past 3 days...constantly, my sent box filled w/this crap to ALL my contacts...who are tired of it too. Is this considered a virus?...why hasn't my malwarebytes picked up on it?
my buddy had this and it never stopped sending me and many others pill scams. he changed the password to his hotmail and did virus scans but eventually closed the hotmail account. i dont think he found a real solution, he just opened a new gmail account and said bye bye to hotmail.
