Thanks for your reply Jennifer

You could try to access your Hotmail account from another machine. Then you'd know if it's hotmail, or your machine. Mine is working fine.

The problem explains itself quite well.
The hotmail database of email is made of a network of PC's
The problem is that the Hotmail PC that holds all of your email is currently offline, you have to sit and wait I am afraid.-Chris

I have had a Hotmail account for around 2 years and I got the same message for the first time a few days back. It's accessable again now.

Hi, for the last few weeks I haven't been able to sign into my Hotmail account either. At first it kept telling me to re-enter my password, then it let me change my password, however that did nothing. Now I'm getting the same error message as bret. I'm running win. ME. I tried signing in from a few different comps. and it worked fine. Any suggestions besides just waiting? Thanks.

Hi,
For the last 2 days I was not able to get onto Hotmail too. I guess it had to do with ...... a few days before then, I accidentally opened an email that did not make sense, perhaps that did something. Lately, I received these strange emails that tried some enticing wordings that I could see from the preview pane. But I am not a curious person at that. So I did not open the attachments, deleted the mails instead. I tried blocking these mails, at first it did not work, because they kept changing their returned addresses which weren't real anyway. But I made complaints to both my ISP and the network that delivered their mails. I knew that some of the nets that said to be their deliverers were not real. But anyway it is useful to complain to those nets because then, they would do something to try to see where these liars did come from and lied on their net's names. I always wrote to the system administrators, or addressed to the postmaster of that accused net. For the last week or so, I almost completey void of receiving these nonesense mails. Hope it won't start back later.
Ciao !
Harry.

im having a hotmail problem aswell, i just installed xp and whenever i try to log in to hotmail it times out and i get a "cannot find server" message, i tried turning the firewall off but that didnt work

I get this error message when all three of us
who use our computer try to log into our
hotmail accounts: "The identity certificate
uses an unknown signature algorithm." Does
anybody know what this means?

Yes. I have the same problem. For two weeks now. I have had my password reauthorized and can access my hotmail from my outlook mail, but I still cannot send. Any ideas on how to bypass and send in outlook e?
I am wondering if Hotmail is trying to get people to subscribe this way.....

I have had problems getting into one of my hotmail accounts for the past few days (notably the one that has the most space used). I cannot get in via the hotmail website (it just times out whilst authenticating the password). This happens on serveral computers using serveral ISP's. I have however found that if I check my email from the hotmail link on www.msn.co.uk or from
http://dial.blueyonder.co.uk/publish/index.html
then it will let me into my mailbox with no problems.

The problem I have been having is the most bizarre one I have ever faced in my 15 years surfing the net. Suddenly, as of last week - june 30th or so - BOTH MY HOME PC's have been unable to access the www.hotmail.com or the MYMSN. Hotmail keeps giving me childish instruction such as "empty your cache" or otherwise empty my internet saved pages etc. I can access ANY OTHER URL except for theirs and this is what they tell me. It's enough to give up on Hotmail altogether and stick with Yahoo..... I tried going to the other links suggested by Adam (AKS) and that didn't work either (glad it's working for you though)..........

I have another kind of problem with Hotmail. I can't sign in from my computer, but can access from any other computer. Can't figure out that problem !!!

...me again...
I have finally managed to get access from www.hotmail.com to my main email account... In order to do this I had to delete every tempolary internet file on my computer.
I would not advise you do this unless you know what you are doing. You will also lose any web pages you have saved into favorites and any cookies. Anyone that does know what I am on about and wants to try it here is what i did do this...
Find you tempolary internet files directory... goto content.ie5. Delete all the subfolders in that directory. Then delete the files in content.ie5 (do not delete this directory thou). you then have to delete index.dat from the content.ie5 folder (which is only viewable from dos once you change its attributes (attrib -r +a -h -s index.dat). THIS PART HAS TO BE DONE FROM PURE DOS (not inside a dos window in windows)It is far less time consuming to do this from DOS rather than from windows. I have tried this on 2 computers that I have had problems on and it works as soon as you have done it.
