Specs: Windows Vista
A rogue program installed itself corrupting the Hosts file. In Hijackthis i get a bunch of 01 entries. Spybot catches it and when it tries to repair the Hosts file it cant.

I tried to manually change or delete it and could do neither.

I opened notepad as administrator and tried to correct and change the Hosts file with no luck. visat just wont let me do it.

I tried to use Avenger by swandog46 to delete it on boot and nothing using the path c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.* (*) wildcard.

How can I replace the corrputed Hosts file? Any Ideas anyone?

I'd boot to a live cd to try to fix it. I suspect more issues though.

Use software to fix, More AV and spyware tools maybe.

Use "restore point" to time when it work.

Reload system to OEM state.
