Homepage hijack and overheating!!

Hey, have a problem when i go onto IE, my homepage doesnt come up and "about:blank" homepage comes up with lots of pop ups. Have tried Spybot and Adaware etc but has not cleared it. Also have tried loading Norton Antivirus, but my laptop makes a noise like it is overheating and cuts off halfway through doing a scan. Is this linked? HELP!!

Thanks guys. Have managed to sort it out through rebooting AGAIN and putting spybot and adaware and Norton on again. Seems to be ok fo rnow, but will use the stuff posted above and let you know. Fan is still overheating though. What can i do?
