I purchased HistoryKill from www.swanksoft.com. The company advertised that it would overwrite & encrypt data making it impossible to recover. Well, to my surprise I was able to recover every piece of info that HistoryKill touched. This was done with some free undelete program I downloaded. Does anyone else care to try? Let me know if I'm the only one whose HistoryKill isn't working as advertised.

Did you trial that program before buying it?There is a 15 day trial of HistoryKill as I understand it.I have gotten "burned" by purchasing programs without fully testing them and confirming that they really do what they claim to do.That type of program category has more than a few programs that don't do what they say they will.Regards.JB

My opinion here, use Webroots
Window Washer at www.webroot.com
The retail is <$50 but they have a TRIAL version ONLINE. And the product does work.
It uses a REWRITE feature that can be set for any number of PASSES with "bleach",
each PASS making the file even less recoverable. Has MANY features to fully customize the product to your needs.

I have heard really good feed-back from window washer users also. It's a little more expensive than HistoryKill but I haven't heard any complaints about it either. When checking these programs out,see what the license term is.HistoryKill is 1 year free updates.I look for products that I can test that offer lifetime licenses with free upgrades.JB
