Remove/FIX the following using Hijackthis:
C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe (not a typical startup item usually loaded via a virus)
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeiexplore is not a typical startup item unless a virus or spyware put it there.

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://server224.smartbotpro.net/7search/?hklmYour startup must be very slow as you have a lot of startup files you can speed this up by removing some of your startup items.
Some of the items in the first section may have loaded other files or programs so check your ADD/Remove programs section first for any programs you are not familiar with, then use the hijackthis log, and use adware to look for other spyware on your system, as you will find these files place .dll, .exe files in the C:\, C:\WINDOWS, and C:\Program Files directories, too.
Also do a full virus scan with an updated virus checker.

Ok great I hope that fixed it here is the new log file:

I still see that these items
C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe (not a typical startup item usually loaded via a virus)C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
are still in my hijack log. But when I run hijackthis these items are not viewable to fix. I only see them when I save and view the downloaded log.

Brett,
Not to worry.C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
These are perfectly normal in XP, checked about a dozen clean files on various respected spyware forums, an example:
http://tomcoyote.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=756
They were in all of them, pronounced clean by guys a lot more knowledgeable than myself.
While you're at it you should get the SP1 update and then the patches as well. They contain some important security related updates.
And... Install HiJackthis in a folder (My Documents etc.), not in a temp file as it
will not let you use the backup function in the program. It will delete them upon reboot.
It can come in handy if you make a mistake.
