I am having trouble with someone hijacking my home page/browswer with a page and a big STOP SIGN etc. I have not gone to their site, or dowloaded anything, but went to hijackthis and downloaded it, then copied my log. I have the log if anyone needs to see it. Need help, thanks alot! Paula

I posted it and was told immediately *not* to post unless asked to by an expert...I need help w/getting the default home page to *go away*. Also my Norton Antivirus and Firewall seems to have been disabled, and I can't turn it on. Any ideas?

If your firewall and norton has been disabled...that suggests you have a virus...
Try and update your antivirus first. If you can't then....

Reboot the computer to safe mode (tap f8 on boot)after a 30 second shutdown.
Run a full system scan with your antivirus.
If no help there then....

Try a scan here:

http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/

Check its autoclean function, let it clean what it can. Let me know what it can't.

Changed homepage and that stopsign popup crap suggests spyware/hijackers.

Download ad-aware from here:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Set it up like this page suggests:

http://www.lavahelp.com/howto/fullscan/index.html

Update it using the globe icon> connect> ok.
Restart ad-aware and run its scan while *offline* and using it's *custom scanning* options.
Let it remove what it finds.

Reboot

Then download CWShredder from here:

http://spywarewarrior.com/files/CWShredder.exe

Save it to disk, go offline and run that tool with all windows closed except cwshredder...hit "fix" not just scan...let it fix what it finds.

Reboot.

Run cwshredder again just to be sure.

Once you have done the above..if you still have problems...post a *fresh* hijack log (the new one will be different after cleaning up with ad-aware and virus removal) along with rav antivirus scan findings.

I will help with your log.
