Hiding my wlan

Hi there,
is it possible to hide my wlan,
so it will be more difficult to be attacked by "war-drivers"?

Apreciate your dvice on this subject

Yes, most routers have the option to disable the broadcast of the SSID. That is the option you want to enable.

However, it's really not much of a security measure.

First, enable encryption(WPA/WPA2). You could also enable MAC address filtering, which will only allow predefined devices to connect.

To add to what RT said use a strong encryption key to prevent against brute force dictionary attacks.

Avoid keys that have dates, names and whole words or sentences.

A good method of creating a random memorable key is to use the first letters of the words in a nursery rhyme or song. You might have a favourite book that you can select a page and use the first letters of so many words from that. To make it that little bit more random add letters and / or symbols.
