I take great care to encrypt sensitive image files on my computer (NO! not 'those' types of images), bmp's, jpg's mostly, but they are still visible in Windows Explorer thumbnail view. How can I ensure they are not visible at all in file searches?

Have you tried disabling thumbnail caching, and deleting the thumbs.db files?

Control Panel > Folder Options - On the View tab, check 'Do not cache thumbnails'

I use magic folders by PC magic. It does just what you want. It not only hides the files it makes them invisible. I made a specific folder and it makes that and the files in it invisible to just about everything.

Yes, well, that's nice - but the OP is using something else.

Very likely the reason the thmubnails are still showing on that machine is due to the thumbs.db files, which would have been created prior to encryption
