Ok, today something weird happened. First of all, when i signed on line with Sygate running, a program named NETBEUI virtual device (version 4.0), located in the windows system as NETBEUI.VXD tried to access the internet. What the hell is this program, i have never seen or heard of it. I immediately blocked it and just curious if anyone knows what it is. ALSO, i just realized this morn that i have a HIDDEN FILE in my documents. I have 3 folders in my documents, and at the bottom of documents windown it stated: 3 object(s), plus 1 Hidden! Also in my C:\ drive it says 34 object(s) (plus 16 hidden). Why are those files HIDDEN, is this normal? How can i find out what the are, and better yet, how to get rid of them.

So thats basically it. I have an application or program trying to sign on as NETBEUI.VXD, and i got hidden files in my system. Please, i need some sort of advice. can someone help me?

Go to practicallynetworked.com and you will get all the information you need about Microsoft's networking.

hi deniro,
netbeui is an internet protocol similar to tcp/ip, and its used in networking. the netbeui.vxd is probably a network driver. your hidden files are there by default so to speak, you'll have to go to windows explorer, view button, folder option, view, and click the button where it asks view all hidden files to see all your hidden files.
for more info on networking, go to www.thepublicworks.com security section and link to dsl reports, pratically networked, speed guide.
hope this helps,
murve
