Hello!
My computer has been very slow lately...alot of cannot find server and not responding error messages. I have run AVG and ad-aware and cannot find anything wrong with it until today. Also am unable to download cwshredder (think thats what its called)

Two things:
1.) AD-AWARE gave me the message that my "security was compromised~ scrfile\shell\open\command" thats all it said...and I have no idea what to do.

2.) Because my software says I have no viruses, and my computer (cable modem) is running slower than the slowest dial up, I ran Hijackthis... Unfortunately, I cannot dicepher. Please help!

You have downloaded Eanthology at some point, this is spyware/adware/trojan masquerading as a virus scanner and other things. It really makes a mess of PCs. You also have IEFEATURES crap, as well as your browser has been hijacked by SEARCHCENTRIX

Download SPYBOT S&D from this link:-

Make sure you update SPYBOT as soon as you have installed it, you can download the updates listed in the same link above, DETECTION and TOOLS. To install those, run SPYBOT ONCE, do the IMMUNIZE thing in SpyBot, then CLOSE the program. NOw click on the DETECTION update and let it install, then the TOOLS update and let that install.
Open Spybot again, and IMMUNIZE again. Also now install the BROWSER HELPER below the Immunize.
Finally, you can now CHECK for PROBLEMS and let Spybot find Eanthology and others and clean all that it finds.

Now you have to go into ADD/REMOVE and remove all instances of Eanthology.

Reboot and use Hijackthis again. From the scan list, check the following lines if still listed:-

hit FIX CHECKED, reboot again and see if things look better. This may not be the end of things, but it's a start. Get back to the forum after you have done all of the above, and we'll see what is left. Some of these insidious programs can hide themselves and pop back in again.
