Hi,

Thanks so much for allowing me to join what appears to be an awesome group. I've read detailed responses to people having pc situations and am glad that there are great people in the world willing to help those less educated with these types of issues.

About 2 weeks ago, my AVG 8.5 Anti Virus SW stopped automatic updates. The Update Manager failed and wouldn't connect. So I thought I had some type of spyware. I ran Super Spyware Free Edition, Spybot, and Advanced System Care 3. Still nothing. I ran my AVG in safe mode and discovered nothing. I thought maybe AVG was not working so I downloaded AVAST thinking it would pick something up, only it would not update either. So, whatever happened ( or I did inadvertently), I just can't auto update my virus software. I still can access the internet, get my email, etc but I feel exposed.

I have been running PC Tools Firewall Plus for quite some time with no issue prior to my problems, so I didn't think that was causing the problem.

I downloaded Hi Jack This thinking that my pc was breached. I have a log for this as well as for Advance System Care 3.

Can someone please let me know what I might have done to create this situation and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks so much.

Mike

Hello Mavis,

Thanks for the reply. AVG 8.5 updates daily. You can go to their website and download the updates (daily) and manually update the program. It's not a matter of AVG not providing updates, it's just that the program won't update automatically.

Does anyone have any other ideas since my Spybot didn't pick anything up?

Please advise and thanks,

Mike
