Stimpll,
First you will need to turn off tea timer or the fixes may not work. To do so:
Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
On the left hand side, Click on Tools
Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
Restart your computer.
Run a HT scan and put a check beside all of the items listed below the click on the "Fix Checked" button:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: HomepageBHO - {3bf1f86f-b1a8-489b-8d8b-43781d51411f} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpC747.tmp
Then download killbox from this page http://www.subratam.org/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=41
Next delete these files with Killbox:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mssearchnet.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpC747.tmp
Start Killbox and click on Tools->Delete Temp Files.
Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer "No" until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer "Yes".Run this free online scan from Panda
Then download and run ccleaner to clean out all your temp files. Make sure there is not anything in the recycle bin that you need as ccleaner will delete recycle bin items unless checked not to do so.

thanks...I did as requested although I am not sure I did Killbox right...it either did nothing or told me the file could not be deleted...In any case my home page is back to my usual...even after reboot...but I am still getting pop-ups...I have my pop up stopper enabled but they flash up quickly and then disappear...mainly XXX...but not always

Ok...I spoke too soon...I am still also getting those security alerts (kind of conversation bubbles) from an icon (flashing yellow triangle with ! in center) on my toolbar at the bottom of my screeen. the message says I am infected with OHP ver 4.12 and if I click on it it takes me to a website to buy sercurity software. SO far my home page is not hijacked...but all of this (the pop ups, the hijacking and the security threat bubbles) arrived simutaneously yesterday.

Ok, try killbox one more time.
Start killbox
Copy and paste this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mssearchnet.exe
into the file name box, then click the red button with the X. It will ask you if you want to reboot, answer "No"
Now copy and paste this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpC747.tmp
into the file name box, then click the red button with the X.It will ask you if you want to reboot, answer "yes".
Make sure you run ccleaner.

hijack this should be a last resort. Try a free
On-line Spyware Scan
and remove all it finds. If you HAVE to run HJT you can copy and paste yor results into this
Hi-Jack This analyzer
and see for yourself where the problems are.Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

So far so good..I did say that last time though...I had to put my computer in Safe Mode to delete the 1st file in Killbox (I was doing it right...it just couldn't delete it in normal mode for some reason) and the 2nd file was not found (either in normal or safe mode). A ran the Online spyware scan and CCleaner with success....Thanks so much! hopefully this will be the end! happy halloween

please help me too i've got the same problem.
