Comment:

On checking the processes tab in Windows task manager I noticed that iexplore.exe was shown twice. One using about 46.7K of memory and the other in excess of 75K.

a. is this normal to have the same process shown twice

b. if not how do I determine which one is redundant and remove it

c. Can this have anything to do with the excessive slowing down and frequent crashes I'm experiencing

iexplore.exe is Internet Explorer.

If you open 10 Internet Explorer pages. You will have 10 Iexplore.exe's there.

This is not a problem.
So

A. Yes it's normal.
B. You don't need to remove it.
C. No, this is not causing frequent crashing.

UNLESS
A. IF the processes are there but you have no windows open.
B. IF you have 1 Internet explorer open and 2 processes
C. IF You open lots of Internet explorer pages it could possibly crash your PC.

If you have any of the problems thats under "UNLESS" then reply back and we can get it sorted. But if not, then you don't have to worry about a thing.
