My AVG found the Dropper.Inor virus and put it in the vault. I then ran Cwshredder and did the fix thing. In the safe mode I acessed the start up menu and noticed Vprotect32.exe that I know that I didn't have before. I cannot access the start-up menu through msconfig. It shows then quickly disappears.. I did NOT do the system restore routine. Should I do that?[I hate to lose those restore points.] Any help would be appreciated. Also, should I access the start-up menu in the safe mode and uncheck Virusprotect32 that was never ther before? Thanks guys..I think I am in big trouble with this one..The newguy

newguy,

I also read in another post within this computing.net forum that this virus might mess up your AVG so you might have to uninstall AVG and then download it again...IN CASE it is not working after removal from Trend Micro House Call.....

I think I have defeated the culprit. Does anybody know what it does to AVG? Mine seems to work ok after the turmoil.

I ran AVG origonaly, found it and put it in the vault. After that, I couldn't get to the start-up menu because the virus [I assume that anyway]. I turned off system restore, then went to safe mode and scanned. It showed clean. Also in safe mode, I ran msconfig to get to the start-up menu and found VPROT32.exe which I know was not there before. I unchecked it. I booted up, and ran Housecall. No Dropper.Inor, but that did find trojan DELF.AW . I deleted it in Housecall. AVG showed no virus after repeated scans...I still have that VPROT.32 in my start-up menu, but it remains unchecked, and all systems seem to be working ok....Now, how do I get VPROT32.exe out of the start menu? Can I delete it? How do I go about deleting it? Hope this helps. Newguy
