will formatting my computer completely remove the trojan/viruses?

My Norton AntiVirus detected a "download.trojan" in this file.

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\SPEJSDUB\ScriptBodyJsp[1].htm
is infected with the Download.Trojan virus.
Unable to repair this file.

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\SPEJSDUB\ScriptBodyJsp[1].htm
is infected with the Download.Trojan virus.
Access to the file was denied.

I deleted all temporary internet files including offline content, turned off system restore, and scanned my hard drive using Norton, F-Prot, and AVG AntiVirus programs in safe mode and they did not detect or delete any viruses/trojans.

Just to be safe, I want to format my hard drive but I want to know if doing so will actually remove any virus that may be still in the computer.

Thanks in advance!

Formatting is overkill.
If you run Norton while Windows is in safemode, it can easily be deleted.
Deleting the Temp Int Files will have cleaned it out of there.

At the risk of someone having a dig at me pointing you to this post (again)....

You may want to search the PC for Spyware and other bugs that the Trojan may have brought to your PC.

By deleting your temporary internet files....you removed the trojan. Really there is no need to format/re-install but yes the format will remove it if there is any possible chance it still exists...somewhere....
Hopefully you know that formatting will erase ALL data.
As time goes on and as the internet becomes more and more "unfriendly" If you figure the only way to remove those trojans is formatting....you will be doing that once a week...there are so many websites infected and most of the worst ones look so neutral.

There is a couple free programs to help protect you from that stuff.

IE-Spyad, and Spywareblaster.

Spywareblaster blocks bad active x controls and spyware cookies.
IE-Spyad puts thousands of known bad websites in your restricted zone in IE. Restricted zone has java, active x, scripting, and anything else that could be harmful disabled...so they can't do anything to you.
If you happen to hit a bad site you get a popup saying active x has been disabled...page may not display correctly, or "your security settings do not allow downloads..."
More explanations on the folloowing pages:

Spywareblaster here:

Good luck

Hi! I just been infected with Trojan virus named Exploit. I jsut want to know if this virus is Mild or very dangereous.

Secondly, I have been scanning all the C:\ drive and spotted one file in the application java that was infected and I deleted it. And when I scanned again, it says 0 item infected. Could I rest assured that no more files in my computer affected with virus (or in another words all virus is completely removed)?

Lastly, is Formatting my computer necessary to make sure all files is free from virus?

Thank you and please help me by answerng all these 3 questions above. Thank you once again.
