The two main problems are link hijacking and inability to run .exe files. I cannot visit any malware related sites on the infected PC. Trying to visit www.computing.net gets a DNS error - server cannot be found message in IE. Yet if I try "nslookup www.computing.net" at a DOS prompt the correct IP is returned. Also cannot run mbam.exe directly. Had to copy it to a tool.com file then use "start tool.com" to get it to run. Seems totally crazy. Thanks for your help.
