I am studying for the Comptia Security+ test, and I am having a little trouble fully comprehending crytography. I basically understand PKI, symmetric and asymmetric encryption and how they are used in their basic form; however I have a hard time fully understanding all of the ways these technologies are used together. For example, incorporating symmetric and asymmetric encrytion together. Are there any documents online that explain this topic clearly? BTW, do any of you have any advice regarding the Security+ test?

Also, when I contact a site that uses a digital certificate to prove its identity, does my web browser contact the CA that issued the certificate to the site? How does this process work exactly?
