Hi everyone,
I seem of have a problem by the name of Sat_bug.Natas.
Having searched Symantec site, they reckon it can only be removed by using Norton AntiVirus. This is where my 2nd problem begins... I dont have NAV!!!
Does anyone know a way of removing this virus by any other method other than NAV ERD's??
So far, I cant access hotmail or outlook, and its blocking a few other sites.
I found no info that suggests it can propagate across a home network, but I could be wrong (more than likely, lol), although it seems its affecting my missus' pc from connecting to certain sites also
Any help or advice greatly appreciated
Simon

Have you tried any other (on-line) virus checkers? it's unlikely that only Symantec would have a cure. It's probably just that it's an old virus which isn't a major threat. By the way, what program identified it if you haven't got Norton?
"I know that I'm mad - I've always been mad..."

ok, this is one of the many messages i am getting:
"I AM STILL HERE
<insert picture: the file c:\games.zip
contains the virus SATAN BUG
Webscan does not recomend
saving this file.HA HA THIS IS VERY
GOOD PLASE FOR LIVE
BIG THANKS FOR YOU"what on earth is going on???
i have tried Trend Housecall, I have PC-Cillin 03 and AVG7 Free.
None of these have picked anything up.
anyone got a clue??
cheers
simon

hi simon-t,
try either hauri anti-virus, nod32, or a good anti-trojan such as trojan hunter.
all the best,
murve

Hi -
my laptop got exactly the same bug. AND I HAVE Norton-AntiVir! AntiVir gave a me a block-warning "found virus in sqlkibh.dll" ... but it seems, Norton couldn´t stop the infection because the file had a flag "access denied".
I scanned once more (in stand-alone modus and via network from another pc) => result is "not infected, no virus found". Also spyware-protectors did´nt find anything. My browser-standard (site blank) is redirected to "http://search.cc" and it seems, that there is a java-script in the background.
Opening the connect to internet, a message-screen tells me, that my pc is infected with spyware and I should download a antispy-programm by clicking "here", but no link is shown. Damn!!! What a f...
I could not believe, that this is the OLD Sat_bug.natas ... it must be a new one!
Google only found this page ...
regards from germany
Hans

I found this thing using Norton too. It can't clean it up because it is in use. I also used AdAware (free for personal use). But it will keep coming back. To fix it, I used a start up disk (you can create on if you don't already have one). Using MSCONFIG, I set Windows to start up in safe mode and put the startup disk in. When the computer comes up, it starts up in DOS mode. The file is in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and is named jfen.dll. The file can be deleted that way. Then restart the computer (Safe Mode) and run your antivirus software. It should be gone. At least, that worked for me. Hope this helps
Tim
