My company has notified us that they are scanning our computer usage. My fiance and I have exchanged emails and some pictures we wouldn't want anyone to see or read. If I have deleted all of them from the accounts can they still be seen or pulled up.
I realize that what is done is done and will not use my work computer for personal usage anymore. I just need something to put my mind at ease, if I don't need to worry about this. Also, in the past I have viewed some inappropriate websites from my work computer. If it has been in the past and not frequently, will/can this be pulled up and how?
How long do the companies software servers retain this type of information and how do they gain knowledge?
Do they use some sort of software to pull up or alert them of these websites and emails, or do they go through each one individually. Thay have all been on Yahoo accounts from mostly my work computer at home and some at the office. But never inappropriate website on work computer at the office. Although, my home computer is in the companies server.
What do they normally look for while researching in this way? Is it just about breach of security or is it anything in general?
Is there anything I can do now to protect my job security?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you are at work the chances are that your mail is in an Exchange Server mailbox and although you CAN delete mail from your mailbox it only disappears if the Mail Admin decides to compact the mail boxes, i.e. it's like a database, the entry remains until the Index is cleaned, but, & it is a but, if the Mail Admin is efficient he could be running cleanup overnight on a schedule in which case it's gone for ever. As a Mail Admin I tend to know who exceeds their mail box size & it is usually images that cause that. Do I have a look? You bet!
