i have home search assistant, search extender and shopping wizard on my pc, and i need to remove them. ad-aware did not remove them and neither i didnt see them in hijack this (i even ran both in safemode). someone please help me. keep in mind, i am not computer illiterate but this is my first time doing this sort of thing (trying to fix my pc) so please bear with me if i might not understand certain things.

Try these:
Spybot S&D
Spyware Blaster
Make sure you up-date them on-line before scanning.
and then try a free on-line scan at
On-line Spyware ScanPost back if that didn't help.

Hi Shannon
Download the Microsoft Antispyware Program I've seen it find things that spybot & Adaware have missed.
Click on the Validation but you can skip this if you want on the next page and proceed to the downloadCopy and paste this to your browser

If any advice helps, please post back as it might help others.

ok, before i read your guys' reply, which i appreciate sooooo much, i put my computer in safe mode then ran both adaware and webroot spysweeper, ran them both like 3 times each which seemed to work. then i went into my add/remove programs and all 3 of those things were gone........ until i shut down and started up in regular mode.... and there they were again! GRRR!!!! now im getting error messages every few minutes saying :
The application or DLL C:\WINNT\javahy.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
what does THAT mean?!?

I would still follow the above posts that we made for you. I'm not quite understanding what you said about removing that stuff from add/remove?
