Could someone please help me?

Here's the problem with my computer:
I cannot open any of the files on my computer. when I try, I get this warning: your current security settings prohibit running activex controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display properly. I know how to fix that problem, but I can't change the security settings. The custom level link is dead and I can't see the icons to change the zone settings. Internet explorer is inactive. Netscape works but I had to do a search to locate it. None of the files on my computer has been deleted. They're just, for the lack of a better word, frozen.

Dont hate me for the proverbial "use system restore to a time when all was well".Of course this only works with ME or XP.That sounds like a corrupt IE file.Someone will give a better answer so hang on.

I cannot use system restore. I tried but it won't open. The pop up stays blank.

Restart to DOS (or boot with your bootdisk) and at the c: prompt enter
Scanreg /Restore

and choose a date prior to the problem.

THEN, do a full virus scan with updated definitions and check the MS site for Security patches.
