Help!! My computer is running extremely slow and does a lot of "clicking" which then seems to move my cursor. When I use Ctrl+Alt+Del to see what processes are running - there are always some that seem suspicious - but they seem to change names. (Ie: Nuzk6, Shmo18, Fho1hdx1 to name a few.) When I google search these process names - they seem to be associated with viruses. I constantly run Ad-aware,Spybot, and Norton AV - but the problem still continues. How do I get rid of these files/processes? Help!

Can you enter the safe mode and use your security programs' scans while in it?

Sue,

I think your PC has the Download.Trojan.

link to remove:

Have you updated your Norton AV definitions?

Have you updated Spybot S&D and Ad-aware 6.0?

I followed the link in the above response (#2) and followed the instructions to start in safe mode and perform a full system scan.
When I did this - I got two different error messages. "Driver Initialization failed" when I started the full system scan. I started the scan anyway and got a fatal exception OD error (F000:000006AB). Is there any otherway to remove this virus?
FYI - My adaware, spybot and NAV are all up to date and I've performed scans for all of them within the last two days.

My norton, even up to date, never once picked up on any of the trojans that were on my system...

I saw a member on this site recommend an online scanner called housecall located here:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

go there and try scanning your pc...

It found 16 on my system.

After that I downloaded the AVG free edition and it found 8 more along with the 16 housecall found...

it cleaned what it could and the rest was moved to the virus vault...

Try it and see if it works for you... it did great for me =)

I still have the Norton cos I'm afraid to uninstall it...last time I did that my computer wouldn't boot at all... I just close it after the trays all loaded and leave the AVG on instead.

Should've taken a darn class on this stuff... lol

hi sue,
lets try this:
hit your run button, type in regedit, then ok, your registry box will open up, go to and hit the edit button, in the box, type in your offending processes one by one in the search box. if the values are found for these processes, delete the values by right clicking on the values and hitting delete.
once finished, reboot your computer.

now to check:
first hit control alt delete, a box will open up and you will see your processes. delete all the offending processes you find by hitting the end task button if they are still there.

reboot your computer, go into safe mode, you said you have the latest defs, ok, if not before you go into safe mode get your latest defs.
scan your computer with your anti-virus, anti-trojan, spybot, adaware. delete all the files they come up with. clean your cache, temp files, history and cookies folders. empty your recycle bin.
reboot your computer.

if you don't have an anti-trojan, you can get a good free one at www.thepublicworks.com, go to payware section, and link to trojan hunter, once there get free 30 day trial, download it and get latest defs. scan in safe mode along with other anti's.
all the best,
murve
