When I log onto the internet, it always goes to default homepage of about:blank. Is there anything I can do to get my old homepage back?? I have already tried to go through the internet options. How do I go about finding cwshredder?
When I log on to the internet my homepage will default to about:blank. Is there anyway to fix this?

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3 also finds the CWS bug (and other bugs).

Time to find out what malware files are on your computer. You may have to reset your hosts files depending on what types of security threats are detected by the antivirus. Here is what I suggest you do:
1. Empty files in your Cookies (leave out Index.dat file), Temporary, and Internet Explorer Temporary folders via Windows Explorer. Empty Recycle Bin.
2. . Install and run Ad-aware from Lavasoftusa.com to remove or quarantine trackware.
3. Disable System Restore and run at least two different antivirus programs in Safe mode to scan for security threats. I use free antivirus scans from Trendmicro.com and Symantec.com. If you are running free antivirus software like I do, you will have to run antivirus scans in Normal mode because you can't get Internet access in the Safe mode. Search the virus encyclopedia for the detected security threat from your antivirus website. Follow the antivirus instrctions to remove identified malware once a virus/worm/trojan is detected. Follow through with addtional required removal steps of reversing the registry files and Windows startup, and etc.
4. Once the malware files are removed, pc clean and working, repeat the usual maintenace routine of cleanning out files and run scandisk and defrag your hard drive.
5. Create a full backup or copies of backups.
6. Run and download critical security updates via Windwos Update from Microsoft.com.
7. Research and configure XP firewall option.
8. Running and installing two antivirus and one anti-trackware programs usually are sufficient to identify and to remove majority of security threats manually if the programs can't remove them automatically. Since it takes time to run and keep software programs updated along with the Microsoft updates and related issues, and the possible software conflict issues if you install too many anti-trackware and anti-spyware on your computer, be selective with your choices of anti-trackware. I would research and read up on the software and known issues that might cause program conflicts before you install the software to keep the clutter down and avoiding downloading any unintended spyware or scripts.
9. See causes, prevention, and recovery of viruses/worms/trojan (and for XP) from support.microsoft.com,
