Having been hit by a nasty virus (with AVG Free version running) infected files were sent to vault - and then deleted in error. Yes, hit wrong button!! Have managed to retreive files using a File Recovery utility - but where does AVG store them, so I can restore them to the vault - and then hopefully to their original location????

Hi, They are stored in... c:\$VAULT$.AVG
Once the AVG test proves clear of virus's I delete them, rightly or wrongly! anyway.

Thanks for reply - that is what I thought. But when I recovered them to that directory, they did not re-appear back in the vault for me to re-store. I also tried copying this file into the AVG directory but no luck. I need them as it has removed half of my programs, not all of which I can get back. Any other suggestions anyone?

From the help pages of AVG-
Delete File – deletes – finally removes the file. It cannot be restored later.
Could be that you are all done.
