In addition to this I can't access my task manager or msconfig. Anyone know how to remove it?

I also clicked on http://molotov.us/itr/ :-) in someone's profile and now have it in my own. When I try to access the task manager, it pops up for about a second and then disappears. I also cannot access msconfig. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this?!?!?!

I think I've stumbled upon a solution to this one... I took the following steps:

- Reboot in Safe Mode and do a system restore to the day prior of infection. (This allows you to load up regedit and keep the task manager up)
- Load up task manager and make a list of any suspicious running processes. (There were a total of 6 that would load up on my compie: abar.exe, bsbjbh6.exe, eqmz6p.exe, grr9vsvg.exe, vkra9sg.exe, and xyigv8dn.exe)
- All of the suspect running files should be in your windows/system folder. (I also did a search for executable files of 232kb in size (because all of the bunk-ass virii-themed ones were of that size).
- End the running suspect processes and immediatly delete them ... you have to do this quick, 'cuz they'll load up again in a matter of seconds.
- Rinse, repeat.

Another possible solution could be to simply delete the suspect files in safe mode, however, I haven't tried this for myself.

Everything seems to be running fine for me now. So, good luck to you fellas.

Hi, my name is Jay Loden, my website, Jayloden.com, provides virus removals for most of the AIM viruses out there, including this one. I try to continuously update the site and removal tools to keep up with any new variants of the viruses, and the tool automatically removes the virus files and registry keys. For this particular virus, please visit http://www.jayloden.com/Molotov.htm

If you have a new version of the virus that the removal tool does not work on, please contact me and I will do my best to add that to the removal tool.

-Jay

ok this happened to me too. and i fixed it completely. this is what you do.

if you have XP go to start > control panel > performance and maintenance > restore system

and restore your system to a day before you clicked on the link in AIM.

then go to pandasoftware.com and do a free virus scan to remove any viruses.

thats what i did and everything is back to normal.
