My computer is infected with a virus and the only prompts I am getting are to buy antivirus software. I think this is the perpetrator. I have downloaded stopzilla.com onto a CD and put this in my PC but I am not sure if it is able to run as the prompt boxes keep popping up to purchase the antirirus software. Can anybodt help please?
There is a simple way to remove this. Turn off your computer and start it back up up in "safe mode" (this is usually done by pressing the F5 key when you first turn the computer back on.) Once in safe mode do a system restore to the day prior to getting this message. That should get you back to normal operation. The question you need to ask is where did this malware come from? The 2 most common places are from opening an infected website or an infected email. Install a good anti-virus, anti-spyware like M'S Security Essentials (its Free) presuming you're running XP or a later version of an MS OS.
