Comment:

I have a friend who has a laptop and has become infected with the TBHELPER.DLL
She cannot access IE, therefore, cannot get to internet pages. I cannot get to her to assist her problem. What can she do to remove this infection. She does not have any Spyware/antivirus utility installed.

Try starting the computer in safe mode (tap F8 on startup, safe mode) as administrator.
Right click My Computer > Properties. Click System Restore tab, shut off system restore.
Go to Start > Run > Regedit
Click toolbar in top, search for TBHELPER.DLL
Delete any references to it.
Close regedit
Start > Run > msconfig
Click Startup tab at top
Look for and uncheck anything related to TBHELPER.DLL
restart the computer.

Get a good Antivirus/Antispyware program.

AVG Internet security works wonders, get it at:

HenBang provides an uninstall option which can be accessed via the Add or Remove Programs dialog in the Windows Control Panel. The software is listed as "Rich Media".
