HDD password

Product: gateway laptop m-255-e

I was given a gateway m-255-e laptop as payment for a debt. I am unable to boot it up. When I try I am asked for a HDD password. I do not know how to get past this. Please help!

Well, you could ask the person you got it from for the password for starters...

actually Kathie, if the person won't give you the password you may have to do a fresh windows install providing you have an inbstall disc.
