Hi people.
Bear with me here I wil give as much background as possible.
Here's my problem !!
I have an advent PC which is about 4 years old but was pretty high spec when u got it. Ove rthe last couple of months i have had some issues with the hard drive being unable to be read. Prior to this at times my system would just open lots and lots of blank IE 7 tabs.
I have also recently installed a mmg from games campus and thought that might cause a problem. I have had it installed on my laptop for over a year with no issues.
Having now had a new hd installed ny an engineer. I have had exactly the same issue again. Although this time in the run up to the meltdown my pc kept telling me it had to increase my virtual memory.
Today i have again restored to factory settings and all is fine running avg, IE7, mozilla etc.
I have tried to run memtest86+ with a free dl burnt with nero to cd. But when i reboot it starts the exercise but then stops with the [DS-DOS]A:\> as if waiting for a command.
Ultimately the question im asking is ;
Could it be a ram problem that is causing the aggravation in the first place ?
Am I doing something worng with the memtest dl ?
Thanks and sorry for the long windedness of my post.....If you are still awake any help would be appreciated.
Andy.
