Specs: Windows XP Service Pack 2, AMD(2.7 Mhz)/ 1 Gb
My name is Sam. After working fine for 2 years, one day my pc was not booting(log in prompt was not coming). Then I formatted C Drive and loaded OS and it works fine. But when I restart the system again problem started. This stage repeatedly continued. I wanted to load OS fresh and wanted to scan the whole hard disk with a good antivirus. But I was not able to install OS. Now my system not detecting the Hard Disk at all, it not showing in BIOS also. But working fine with other Hard Disk. When I power on the computer, some touching sound at regular interval is coming from the Hard Disk. Has my Disk gone down ? Please help me.

Sounds like your hard drive is toast which is likely why you had the problem in the beginning. If you can try to listen to it while powered up. Bad drives don't run smoothly. Almost a skipping sound. If it is clicking in rhythm it is likely bad.
