Specs: Windows XP PRO SP3, Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4GHZ - 1.99GB RAM
Try to be brief.
Had a generic trojan. Mcafee didn't stop it or detect on scan. Used Fix-it utilities and removed it. Now I have the following issues:

1. Many services won't start such as DHCP, Windows Audio, RCP. Sometimes I can start them manually, sometimes not. Without DHCP, I have no internet or e-mail.

2. Search engines redirect me to other sites - I can get serach results in google but when I click a link, it takes me somewhere random.

Should I try to fix these or just format the drive and reinstall XP and all the goodies? I have backups of files.

If I were you I would choose the latter of two options. It's far easier than trying to fix problems caused by your use of an inappropriate.third-party utility.

So, I reinstalled Windows XP. Not a complete reinstall but a Repair. Most everything works fine. However, I still have the Google redirect issue. Any ideas?
