Google, yahoo search links being redirected

Specs: Windows XP, T2300, 1.66Ghz, 1G ram
On my wife's Laptop (Sony VAIO, Windows XP), any time you click on a link from a search engine (Yahoo, Google) it redirects you to a seemingly random advertising website. We have Malwarebytes, Spywareblaster, and Spy-bot Search and Destroy, as well as Norton anti-virus installed and up to date. None of them are finding anything. Can anyone help with this problem?

I tried removing all Java and re-installing offline. This along with clearing all browser cookies and history seemed to work for a few clicks, then I was getting redirected again. I have found that if I search from the Google toolbar window (in Mozilla Firefox) I will get redirected, but if I search from the Google website itself I do not. I have removed the Google toolbar but I like using that feature, so I would still like to be able to clean this so I can use it again.
