I too seem to have a google re-direct virus.
AVG8 won't initialize a scan and spybotS&D wont start up. The spybotS&D.exe file isn't in its folder anymore either.
I tried running AVG8 in safe mode but the scanner seemed to do nothing. I also tried uninstalling S&D and reinstalling, but it closed down upon pressing the check for problems button. (immunize ran though)
I also tried downloading unhackme and kaspersky but internet explorer wouldn't open or save these files. Firefox could save them but i couldn't open them as it said they were corrupt.
Will a clean install of vista be likely to fix these problems?

Thanks,
Though I had a particularly nasty one that would redirect google search links and also stop me from downloading anything. it also inhibited any spy/ad/virus scanner.
A clean install did the trick. I backed up everything i wanted to keep onto my second hard drive and reformatted c:\. Painfully slow putting it all back together, but it didn't spread to my second drive or the files i backed up from c:\. Computer is back in top shape again.
