google keeps redirecting me to other sites

December 30, 2010 at 07:45:43
Specs: Windows XP

Google keeps redirecting me to other sites while using the latest version of foxfire and I keep getting a win32 error. From reading old posts I think i have some sort of malwar spyware on my computer but the links in previous instructions no longer work (even when I copy and paste them into my browser). Any help would be great.
Thank you,
Felecia

I would suggest that you try going back to your previous restore point 1st.

secondly I would download malwarebytes and a rootkiller like in safe mode, lots of times this is a root kit.

doing a system restore will not help. If you clicked on any part of the popup on your desktop it is now embedded in your registry.
You can try safe mode with networking, update and run malwarebytes in a full scan and delete all it finds.

I finally noticed your link too thank you good tips. I did the Malware sweep as you noted and removed several files. I'll let you know if the issue continues. I tried running Spyware Doctor but it says I need to uninstall Norton 360 in order for it to work. Think I should uninstall Norton in order to use Spyware Doctor?

By the way I was also getting this message "Generic Host Process for Win 32 Services has red a problem and needs to close " repeatedly. Think it's related to the spyware issue or separate? Either way any help you can provide regarding fixing it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you again.

Instead of running spyware doctor, try
Trojan remover
http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/d...
Hitman pro
http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro
and fix all they find.
