My girlfriend's computer has problems with Google links being redirected and when she tries to access anti-virus/anti-malware/etc. sites, the sites are blocked. I used my computer to download the Anti-Malware and HijackThis installation software, rename them and emailed them to her computer (renaming the programs after installation). I was able to run both programs on her computer and saved the logs. The Anti-Malware program found over 80 items which were removed. I'm ready to post the log results as soon as you say so. The problem of viruses blocking access to antivirus sityes seems to grow more prevelant. After many failed attempts, or only partial fixes this is the procedure that seems to work the best is: 1) Run a bootable antivirus CD. Scan and remove. 2) Run HiJackThis and remove anything that doesn’t look right. (Something with the word DNS with mine. Removed it before I thought to write it down.) 3) Disable DNS Client service and disable HOST files. 4) You should now be able to update your favorite antivirus programs and do additional scans. For additional help, see below… 1) Run a bootable antivirus disk and perform a virus scan outside of the Windows environment. This prevents those pesky critters from hiding or fooling your antivirus programs. I use BitDefenders Rescue CD. You can download it here: http://download.bitdefender.com/res...
