spybot doesn't work anymore, it just tells me my problems and doesn't fix them because they want money. does anyone know a good free malware/virus/spyware remover?

You gotta be kidding. All they said HERE is If you can spare a few bucks, please donate to our cause. It's entirely voluntary. All web sites has similar plead. Just because you refused (or cannot afford to help) to donate doesn't mean you are barred from using Spybot S&D.

ur right, what i had was spyware marauding as spybot.

so i got avg and spybot now. can this clean my computer completely or do i need something else as well? DO THese take care of viruses/worms/malware/spyware all of em?

also, why is a tracking cookie bad? thats just when i save my google preferences or something right?

Virus? AVG (free)

Spyware? SpyBot (free) & AdAware (free)

Worms? Get your "Critical Updates" (free from MS)

MOST cookies are harmless, like the ones here that remember who you are.

There is a cookie out in the wild called a "Data Miner". These need to be shot on sight!

AdAware from LavaSoft targets these and acts as a double check for SpyBot.

ccleaner is also a good thing to use to get ride of all the crap in the computer
