Subject: getting rid of virus pop-ups
OS: Windows XP
CPU/Ram: ? Pentium 4
Comment:

Recently I went to a website that put a lot of junk on my computer (including thesearchmall.com spyware, which I was eventually able to remove).

However, I am still getting multiple pop-ups for programs to remove the spyware, i.e. virus hunter. Words like VIRUS and SPYWARE are highlighted in pink in my internet browser.

I have run updated versions of spyware, ad-aware, and Hijack this (which was used to remove thesearchmall.com problem). I have deleted all my cookies and temp files. I am stuck, please help!

Sometimes helpful to run ALL scans from Safe Mode when you are in the midst of a battle.
Good Luck
