I have a Search engine redirect virus. I've done everything to get rid of it. Windows Security Essentials didn't even detect it. How do I get rid of it?
'I've done everything to get rid of it' What have you done? Is it a secret?

Ran several Spy Checkers. Ran CcCleaner. Looked up the common file names for the virus names. Did a System Restore. I used a lot of info that was given for previous askers on this forum
'Ran several Spy Checkers' what I meant was...EXACTLY WHICH cleaners did you use?
That would help when trying to help youSome HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
reinstall windows is a option... hehe
lets see. Windows Security Essentials, Avast, Avira and Maleware 1.33 None of the programs even detected it and Combofix doesn't work on Win 7
try trojan remover and hitman pro. Hopefully that will help you. Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
Thanks, unfortunately neither worked... *Sigh* Running out of options. I guess it's lucky that I needed to sent it to get repaired anyway. Thanks again for the help.
I just fixed the Google search hijacked on my computer. I had to edit the hosts file to fix. The hosts file had lines:
212.117.178.25 www.google.com
212.117.163.43 search.yahoo.comI tried Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, AdAware, and CureIt! but none of them found this. Also look at your Tools>Internet Options>Connections to be sure no proxies have been added.
